So, I've decided to actually give this NaNoWriMo thing a go this year. Maybe I'll actually finish my first draft! I'll be working on a novel I've already started, but I won't be revising anything I've already written - I'll just be writing new stuff. Some of it will probably be rubbish. In fact, a lot of it, like a lot of what I've already written, will probably be rubbish. But the point is to force myself to actually write something, which I haven't been doing at all for basically the last two months. (OK, I haven't written NOTHING in the last 2 months, but just about.) The novel I'll be working on is provisionally titled "Shifting Views",

I have completed the quest I set out on nearly a day and a half ago, and read all four Lord Of The Rings books for the third time. It went something like this: Last night, 8pm-9:30: Read "Book" 1 of The Two Towers. (After this I went to bed.) Today, 3pm-4:20: Read the rest of The Two Towers. Try to figure out the intersecting timelines, and eventually realise that Sam and Frodo have got ahead of the rest by the end of the book, which is why the film has them finishing at a different time. 4:30-6:00: Read The Return Of The King, and b

(insert running!Bilbo gif here) So, having been reading an awesome LOTR/Hobbit fanfiction on AO3 called Sansukh (link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/855528/chapters/1637607 - warning: slash (non-explicit)), I have now decided to re-read the original books. This may have also been influenced by the fact that I finally saw the last Hobbit film a couple of months ago. Anyway, I started today, at precisely 12 o'clock, and being me (and my family being my family) we've made a bet of it. My dad bet I could do it in less than 3 days - and I now think he may be right - and my younger sister thinks more than a week. So, my day went something like
